Commanderie de la Bargemone

Founded by the Knights Templar in the 13th Century, ownership of the estate has changed numerous times over the years, from the Count of Les Baux, to the Arbaud family, to Thomassin Bargemone (after which the estate is currently named). The French industrialist Jean‐Pierre Rozan purchased the estate in 1968, replanting the vineyards and restoring it to its former glory after the ravages of Phylloxera and a devasting earthquake in 1903.

Jean‐Pierre passed away in 2006, and the estate was sold to Christian and Marina Garin, who were old friends of the Rozans and themselves from local Provencal families. Since the sale, this iconic estate has gone from strength to strength, with the Garins completing a conversion to organic farming (Agriculture Biologique) in 2018, and a replanting effort that included the introduction of Rolle (Vermentino) and Counoise. A substantial cellar renovation saw the introduction of new, state‐of‐the‐art, segmented tanks, to allow them to isolate and work with small lots.

Christian and Marina’s son Augustin is completing his studies in international business and has begun work at the estate.
