Description
Sous la Montagne (“Below the Mountain”) is a new project from winemaker Jeff Carrel and his associate Sebastien Calduch. This range of estate-bottled and négociant wines is sourced from top sites in the Roussillon and western Languedoc, showcasing the pure, unadorned fruit from old vines planted in brilliant granite and schist-based terroirs.
Tasting Notes: Inky, opaque purple color. Loaded, with ripe, dark, pure blackberry, cassis, and plum fruit, with hints of smoke, lump charcoal, and baking spice. Ripe fruit, soft, plush tannins and a light minerality on the palate lead to a lingering finish.
Serve With: A versatile food wine that will pair well with flavorful dishes such as pepper-rubbed bison steak, grilled eggplant with garlicky yogurt sauce, red pepper hummus wraps, and more.
